We can’t do everything, but sometimes organizational priorities aren’t clear. We engage leaders and stakeholders to think strategically about what’s most important, and then help develop plans that don’t just sit on a shelf but rather are implemented and impactful.
The Challenge
How to help a New England Montessori school remain affordable, increase diversity, and balance competing views regarding teaching second languages?
The Story
We designed and administered surveys to parents, and parents of families who had left the school, facilitated a feedback session with parents, interviewed all staff and key stakeholders, synthesized the data, and led a day-long retreat to set the future direction of the school.
Survey analysis showed that there was no correlation between parents’ satisfaction with cost and their likelihood to recommend the school. Therefore, we concluded that while the board needed to monitor cost, it was not at or near a “breaking point” for current parents.
The Outcome
The planning process resulted in:
“Working with Greg Hessel on our Strategic Plan exceeded our expectations. He worked smoothly and effectively. He responded quickly to all concerns and questions. Mr. Hessel brought impressive expertise coupled with a sense of humor. He led two large group meetings maintaining enthusiasm while eliciting valuable feedback about our organization. The committee members (board and staff) found the experience enlightening and valuable. I highly recommend him.”
